Virginia Assessment Parent Portal

Newport News Public Schools is pleased to announce a new method for parents to receive their child’s Virginia Assessment Program test results.

The Virginia Assessment Parent Portal is a new web-based portal where parents will create a user account and gain access to their child's test results for certain statewide assessments. Currently, this includes test results from the Fall 2021 Grades 3-8 Reading and Mathematics Growth Assessments that your child completed earlier in this school year. Spring 2022 Grades 3-8 Mathematics and Reading state assessments will be available.

Parents will be able to review their child’s Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) Report for each test completed this fall and, in most cases, will be able to view a personalized video that accompanies the SDBQ Report for your child. This is a personalized video that provides an overview of the SDBQ report, explains specific details from your child’s SDBQ report, and directs you to resources on the Virginia Department of Education’s website to assist with your child's academic needs.

To create your Virginia Assessment Parent Portal account, follow the instructions provided in the Parent Portal User Guide link below. Once your account has been created and activated, you will use your child’s information and the Claim Code listed in the letter mailed home. The information you enter in the Virginia Assessment Parent Portal for your child must match what is provided in the letter.

Please note, the Claim Code must be entered exactly as it appears. It is case sensitive. This code will enable you to access your child’s test results securely.
