Virtual Learning at Newport News Public Schools
The Elementary Virtual Learning Program is an online learning program for students in grades K-5 which will offer a blend of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (independent) instruction led by NNPS teachers. All classes will follow the Virginia Standards of Learning, NNPS curriculum, and pacing. All students will be required to take state and local assessments in person at their "home" school.
The Virtual Learning Academy (VLA) at Point Option is an online program for students in grades 6-12 that makes remote learning personal by creating a true community of educators and learners focused on academic and social success. The VLA is a modern approach to remote learning that allows students to participate in extracurricular activities and athletics at their assigned school.
