What do you most love about teaching?
I enjoy the excitement I see in my students' eyes when they are successful in a skill with which they have struggled. The confidence they gain in themselves and their abilities is contagious.

What is the best way to describe your classroom on a typical day?
I would describe my classroom as a community of learners who encourage and support each other. My students spend each day working together, whether they are partner reading or collaborating on a "problem". Our routines and transitions are so explicitly taught at the beginning of the school year that students transition from one activity to another (most days) effortlessly. They know what to expect and I think that improves the comfort level of my students.

Why do you love working in NNPS?
I am most impressed with the way our NNPS curriculum provides opportunities for students to explore and problem solve through morning experiences and performance-based assessments. Students learn so much more when given a chance to discuss with each other what they have learned, what worked, and what didn't. Together they are able to explore other options.

What do you most love about teaching?
I love teaching because it gives me the opportunity to make a positive impact on young people.  Students look to teachers for support, encouragement, and inspiration.  I want to provide that safe place where students can grow and discover great things about themselves.

What makes NNPS a great school division?
I believe NNPS is a great school division because they are passionate about making students reach their fullest potential.  They give teachers the tools they need to help students become college, career, and citizen-ready.   As a teacher, I have many resources at my fingertips that will guide my instruction and interaction with my students.  Those resources include innovative technology, youth development services, curriculum and development support, and many others.  We share the same hope and desire to create successful learners.

Why are you passionate about supporting fellow teachers?
I always believed in supporting fellow teachers.  When I became a teacher, much of my time was spent seeking the guidance from experienced educators.   Regardless of how many years I teach, I believe there is always room for growth.  I enjoy looking outside my own classroom to help develop my teaching methods.  Some of my best learning moments are from other teachers.  I want to help fellow teachers develop their goals and feel they have the tools to provide positive classroom experiences for students.
