What do you most love about teaching?
What I love most about teaching is seeing a student show great improvement in a skill that he/she wasn't interested in prior to the lesson. Most students do not enjoy something they are not good at performing. Because they practice skill work and improve their level, they learn to enjoy the activity!
Why do you love working in NNPS?
I enjoy working in Newport News because we have a great PE curriculum that includes skating, biking, archery, golf and other activities that are not provided in most Virginia public schools! NNPS has provided me with the opportunities to grow professionally as a teacher.
What word best describes you as a teacher?
The best way to describe me as a teacher is energized! I am a very enthusiastic teacher, and the kids know that I love what I do! My biggest goal as a PE teacher is to get that student who doesn't enjoy PE to learn to LOVE PE through fun movement and fitness activities! Every student does not enjoy playing sports, but every student enjoys being successful and having fun! That's what I try to accomplish in my classroom!

What do you most love about teaching?
I love being able to share my passion with the kids. I enjoy seeing them grow into young men and women and being able to connect with their families. It is great to be able to teach siblings and have former students come back to visit.
Why do you love working in NNPS?
Even though NNPS is a big division, everyone is treated like family. NNPS offers so many opportunities for students and staff. Our school division is always striving for excellence.
Why are you passionate about supporting fellow teachers?
It is important to have someone to lean on who can show you the ropes and make you feel supported. We are all in this together!
